Sound Healing with Katie Down
Sound Portion of the retreat will focus on the following:
• Toning the vagus nerve The vagus nerve is the main nerve of the parasympathetic nervous system which can become out of balance in times of stress. Toning the vagus nerve through voice work, breath, and creative visualization can help the body to return to a state of homeostasis and equanimity. When we vocalize through toning or chanting we are also exercising deep belly breathing, mindfulness and grounding in the present moment which stimulates the vagus nerve, thereby bringing about a rest and digest response in the central nervous system.
• Sound bath
Vegan Feast with Joust
Seasonal menu by Lauren Tanchum of Café Joust; Meal programming will focus on the following:
• Align our bodies with the wisdom of our plant allies
• Construct a palette around locally sourced organic ingredients to evoke setting and a holistic feeling of nourishment.
• Food will be prepared with gentleness and items considered food waste will be reconstituted as viable ingredients wherever possible e.g. juice pulp, gourd seeds, etc.
• Teach plant-based food techniques that can translate into daily food rituals.
• Enjoy meals as a sangha in ceremonial fashion.
